The Problem

You were not unlucky.
You were operating
without a manual.

You can read an organisation in twenty minutes. You know how to assess a candidate, evaluate a proposal, and identify a governance failure from four slides and a P&L.

And then you walked into dating and read absolutely nothing for six weeks.

Not because you were naive. Because you were looking at the marketing. The premium venues. The fluent talk about values and long-term thinking.

You were not reading the operational execution — the logistical asymmetry, the selective disclosure, the gap between what was said and what was actually delivered.

When the corporate-toned exit text arrived, you had no framework for what you had just experienced. The tools already existed. They just had not been redirected.

"I was missing the patterns because I was looking at the marketing, not the operational execution."

HDD Framework™

The Human Due Diligence Framework™ was developed by Dr Catherene Pham FGIA, GAICD for governance and corporate risk contexts and published on LinkedIn. The Modern Dating Pipeline applies it under licence to the high-stakes decisions professional women make in their intimate lives.

Pattern Library

The patterns have names. Once you know them, you cannot unsee them.

Four of the 23 named patterns documented in The Modern Dating Pipeline. The full library — with diagnostics, documented examples, and phase mapping — is available in the HDD Forensic Toolkit.

Acquisition

Three-Minute Window

A gap under five minutes between match notification and first message. Not organic composition — a saved template with your profile keyword inserted via copy-paste. The tell is a syntax break at the insertion point.

Diagnostic: Record exact delta between match timestamp and first message. Under five minutes: script confirmed.

Mirroring

Conversational Volley Ratio

His response word count divided by your question word count. Below 0.5 is depth-mining. Below 0.25 is a verdict: the connection is entirely decorative. He is interested only in who you tell him you are.

Diagnostic: Count words in your last five substantive questions. Count words in his responses. Divide each.

Concealment

Three-Tier Architecture

Tier 1: default concealment. Tier 2: selective disclosure framed as transparency when cornered. Tier 3: narrative rewriting under logical pressure. Each new version is a tier transition.

Diagnostic: How many versions of the same factual claim has he provided under direct questioning?

Audit

Bypass Evasion Loop

The three-component response to an Audit Letter: emotional validation, peripheral acknowledgement, cheerleading close. The three questions entirely absent — not refused, simply not present.

Diagnostic: Did his response reference any of the three questions by number, subject, or implication?

Message A — same man

"Hi, I hope you are having an enjoyable long weekend, I noticed in your interests you like martial are you still active with this"

↑ "martial" — clipped at paste point. "arts" missing. Mechanical trace of copy-paste insertion.

same man · weeks later
Message B — same man

"Hi thanks for responding, how was your weekend? I noticed on your profile you like staying fit, did you have time for a run or get to the gym?"

↑ Generic fitness keyword. Different contact. Same structural architecture.

Documented Evidence

This is not a man who noticed you. This is a man managing a pipeline.

Professional women are particularly vulnerable to this pattern because we are trained to read competence signals. A man who appears detail-oriented and intentional reads as someone worth our time.

The script is designed to produce exactly that reading.

The warmth is real. The interest is not specific to you.

Author · Governance and Risk Management

Stephanie Currow is an expert in governance and risk management, with particular interests in behavioural science and the application of institutional analytical frameworks to personal decision-making.

She wrote The Modern Dating Pipeline after encountering the Human Due Diligence (HDD) Framework™ — developed by Dr Catherene Pham FGIA, GAICD and published on LinkedIn — and recognising that the same rigorous vetting tools professional women already apply to high-stakes career decisions could be redirected to intimate relationships.

The book is the result of that application. It is built on a single documented primary relationship, reproduced from contemporaneous records, and structured as a forensic methodology that any professional woman can deploy.

If you can read a balance sheet in three minutes, you can learn to read a dating pipeline.
